What Parents Need to Know
As parents, our lifestyle choices affect our children’s. If they are never encouraged to experience sports and don’t see their parents exercising either, they are less likely to pick up sports on their own. With the social, developmental, and fitness benefits of regular exercise, it’s in the child’s best interest for parents to encourage athletic participation. In order for sports to be a positive, rewarding, and high-priority aspect of a teenager’s life, it is important for the focus on sports to be fun first, fitness second and competition last.
The percentage of children who are overweight has more than doubled over the past 30 years. Although many factors are contributing to this epidemic, kids are becoming more sedentary. In other words, they're sitting around a lot more than they used to.
Kids need at least an hour of activity a day. Whether your kids are in sports and looking for some extra training or is just starting an exercise program I can help get them where they need to be. Kids need exercise to be a positive experience, not another chore or something they feel they have to do because something is wrong with them. I specialize in many different activites that I like to intruduce to kids. I teach them what they need to know about being healthy and get them up and outside. With a solid foundation we can create a life long healthy lifestyle.
